GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Luna and Claude Opus 5.5 reached Amazon Bedrock on 22 September, and Activate credits can pay for them
GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Luna and Claude Opus 5.5 reached Bedrock on 22 September. Activate credits cover third-party models there, but Bedrock's rates are unconfirmed.
AWS announced on 22 September that GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are generally available on Amazon Bedrock. Claude Opus 5.5 arrived on AWS the same day. Bedrock's pricing page now lists all three GPT-6 models, Astra included, next to the GPT-5.6 family.
AWS gives no prices in the announcement and points to the Bedrock documentation. OpenAI publishes its own. GPT-6 Sol is $2.00 per million input tokens and $10.00 per million output tokens. GPT-6 Luna is $0.10 and $0.50. GPT-6 Astra is $10.00 and $50.00, so Sol costs a fifth of Astra on both sides. It also costs half of GPT-5.6 Sol at its promotional rate, $4 and $20, which runs at least until 21 November.
OpenAI says Sol makes roughly half as many mistakes as GPT-5.6 Sol, and AWS repeats that figure. It comes from an internal OpenAI evaluation, so treat it as the vendor's own number. One billing rule applies to all three GPT-6 models: a prompt over 272,000 input tokens is billed at double the input and cache rates and 1.5 times the output rate, for the whole request.
These are OpenAI's list prices. Neither the announcement nor the static text of AWS's pricing page states what Bedrock charges for GPT-6. Check the Bedrock rate, and whether the 272,000-token rule applies there too, before building a budget on OpenAI's numbers.
For a founder with credits, the useful line is on AWS's page about Activate credits. They "can also be used for third-party models available on Amazon Bedrock", and the page names OpenAI and Anthropic among the providers. The same page says you cannot choose which services the credits go toward, that they apply automatically to eligible charges, and that they usually expire within one to two years depending on the package. If the balance has a deadline, Luna makes it last longest. It costs a twentieth of Sol on both sides, and AWS suggests it for summarization, extraction, classification and routing.
Opus 5.5 can be reached two ways on AWS. Amazon Bedrock offers it with zero data retention by default. Claude Platform on AWS offers the same APIs and console as Anthropic's own platform, "unified with AWS billing and authentication". The Activate page names Bedrock, and nothing in the announcement says credits apply to Claude Platform on AWS. Until AWS confirms it, send Opus traffic through Bedrock. Anthropic says Opus 5.5 finishes tasks with fewer tokens than Opus 5 at a lower price per token. That describes cost per task, and the announcement publishes no rate.
If you hold Activate credits and already use OpenAI models, run new traffic on Sol or Luna through Bedrock, after reading the Bedrock rate card. Which credits pay for which models is in our guide to AI model credits.
